The BAE G10 Graphic EQ:

I´ve been a fan of BAE Audio for several years. - Why?

Because they produce some of the best analogue gear out there: Their products model the most sought after vintage hardware to the tee - With BAE you get the vintage sound with modern reliability.

BAE´s philosophy is keeping every component of their products as closely matched to the original hardware as possible, to give your access to the sound of hard-to-come-by vintage units. And let me tell you: They are doing a fantastic job! The build quality and sound of their products are the best you´ll find.

I recently gave the G10 run and compared it to my vintage API560, which it is modeled after. I tested both EQs on multiple different sound sources to find out the differences and similarities. Watch my comparison here:

What I love about both EQs is that they retain fast transients beautifully and let you sculpt the tone in a natural and smooth way, which makes them perfect for mixing drums, whether it be kicks, snares or overheads, as well as acoustic guitars.

Both are transformer based and feature some of the best analogue circuitry out there. The special character and analogue vibe introduced by the transformers make these EQs great for tracking and coloring your sound at the source.

The main difference I found is that the G10 has a very rich low-end, while the API has more midrange bite. – Both of which sound amazing when used on the right instruments.

However, the full bodied character of the G10 makes it ideal for mixing kick, bass and any instrument you want to add some warmth or girth to.

I´m sure once you hear it, you´ll fall in love with it as well!

i guess the API gear is kinda known for its midrange, to me anyway. Seem to see a lot of API clones that tend toward the 1073 style low end though.
